Brake Rotors

Brake rotors are also known as brake discs. These are metal discs that work together with the brake calipers and pads to slow down the vehicle. They are directly attached to the wheel hub of the vehicle, spinning in the same direction with the wheel. Brake rotors are a vital part of your braking system. In time, rotors can wear out and will eventually need replacement. A failing rotor puts you and your car at risk of stopping when you need it to. Signs of a bad rotor include vibration or pulsation from the pedal and squealing noises. Brake rotors can become warped over time from heat and friction. A warped rotor makes stopping harder to do because there is less surface area for your brakes to grab onto. Flat, new brake rotors offer you the most surface area for your brake pads to latch on to in order to stop your vehicle safely.
